Adopted: AJ, a 5 year old Male Yellow Labrador, found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"AJ is a sweet boy with lots of energy. He loves to be around people and follows me all over the house. AJ likes to play tug of war and he loves to run. He gets along great with other dogs. He is kennel trained and should be kenneled when home alone. He is potty trained and loves going for walks although he will need some training as he pulls. AJ also loves going for rides in the car, getting on the couch and sleeping in the bed with me. Overall, AJ is a great dog and will make a great companion. He is very special and will make a fantastic addition to any family.
AJ does have cataracts; while he has lost substantial vision in one eye, his other eye is good, and he takes eye drops routinely as a preventive measure for losing any further vision "

Another wonderful Happy tail for LVLR, Logan, formerly Brody.

"Hi LVLR!
I'm thrilled to share with you our happy tail about our beloved fur baby Logan! We just passed our one year "adopt-a-versary" and I thought this is a good time to share how happy we are with our fur baby.

Logan was the first puppy we met through your organization and it was love at first site! When he came to meet us he was friendly, hyper and full of love. We wanted a friend for our eight year old black lab, Shea and Logan is the perfect companion. He has brought out the fun in our older pup again.

Logan loves to snuggle, play fetch and play with everyone and anyone! He's the biggest lap dog you'll ever meet and we're so thankful we have him to snuggle with.

I have included a picture of Logan snuggling with our older pup, Shea and a picture of him lounging on the couch.

Thank you,
Kelley W."

We received this heartwarming Happy Tail on Roger, formerly Raja.

"Hi LVLR,
This is our Happy Tail about Raja. He was adopted by us Bill and Jordan A. last January.

We had been looking to add a lab to our family and a friend for our yellow lab Tucker (8). We had heard that people have had a great experience with Las Vegas Lab rescue. The process was great. We added Roger formerly known as Raja to our family last January.
When he first arrived he was nervous and unsure of his new environment. He would stay in our living room and just go outside when need be. After love and encouragement he gained the courage to roam freely around the house in less than a day.
Roger now enjoys laying on the couch, playing fetch, walks with his brother Tucker, and as many pets as he possible can get. He is a happy and loving dog. We are so glad he joined our family and thank you Las Vegas Lab Rescue!"

Adopted: Buddy Junior, a 1year old Male Yellow Labrador, found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Buddy is an awesome dog. He is one of the sweetest loving dogs I have fostered. He likes staying close by and if I get up and leave a room he is right behind me. He sleeps in the bedroom on the floor. Buddy is potty trained and has had no accidents in my home. He is very friendly with both other dogs and people and seems to be good around children. When we go for walks he wants to greet everyone that is out. Buddy has basic commands down but will need training. He is tall enough to take food off of the table and/or counters, and at 132lbs, he will need a large crate as his safe space. He does not like going in the crate, but once he is in there he is fine.

Buddy is starting to learn commands and is eager to learn more (or maybe to get treats when he does what he's supposed to!) With his size and potential power, an obedience training course will be important. As a year-old puppy, now is a great time for this to start.

Buddy will make a great companion for anyone that is willing to give him the love he deserves. A great home for this big boy will have room for him to run and a family that will take the lead in transitioning Buddy from a wonderful puppy into an even better adult!"

Adopted: Bo, a 2 year old Male Black Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"The first thing you should know about Bo, he's a 6 month old puppy trapped in a full size body! He is high energy, and will benefit greatly from immediate training.
Bo is very sweet, affectionate and loves to be with people. While he hasn't had much structure or attention before coming to LVLR, he is very responsive to guidance, correction, and wants to please you. He loves chasing a ball and playing as much as he loves being next to you. He still has a lot of the typical Lab puppy tendencies, being mouthy, jumping up, counter surfing and general playfulness. As his foster parents, we're working on managing his energy with routine walks, play time, re-directing behavior and crating. Bo walks well on a leash, improving every walk. He does well overnight crated and is getting better every day. Bo has been very good with our dogs, but can be overwhelming with his energy, and should be watched for correction. We have no idea how he'd be with cats, as we have none. Bo would also need supervision around small children. He's happy & playful, but isn't aware of his size or energy.
If you're considering meeting Bo, please make sure you're committed to training with him. He needs guidance, boundaries, structure, security, consistency and a strong leader to help him become the best version of Bo. He is a wonderful, happy boy, and needs a family willing to commit to his long term well-being by working on his social skills and manners."

"Marty was saved from a local shelter. Marty is such a sweet dog! He's very calm and he hasn't even barked once since he's been with us. He is house trained and knows how to sit on command. He does well with children and loves to cuddle. Marty also does well with other dogs. Our female lab likes to be in charge and Marty has taken well to her and he lets her feel like she's the boss. Marty was a little hesitant to go into his kennel last night, but once he was in, he slept very well. He is very friendly and would be a great dog for any type of family."

  • sampson-29

Adopted: Sampson, a 9 year old Male Chocolate Labrador, has found forever home.
Sampson was rescued from a local area shelter and like all of our rescues, was given a thorough examination by our veterinary staff. It was discovered that Sampson had soft tissue sarcoma. These masses originate from a variety of soft tissue and they tend to be locally invasive with low chance of metastasis. Sampson has had surgery to remove all tumor cells, and there were no signs of metastatic cancer. He should have a check up every 3 months for the next 2 years to monitor any changes, and if there is no evidence of cancer returning, he is cancer free! Aside from the lump that has been removed, Sampson is healthy and happy.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Sampson is sturdy, resilient, strong, compliant, energetic and curious. He is completely house trained including ‘taking care of business’ outside, not jumping up on counters, nor any interest in chewing on furniture, shoes, wires, power cords and socks. Minimal appetite for human food. Does like peanut butter. He sleeps through the night, will sleep with you in bed, but will also sleep at your bedside. He typically follows me around the house so I always know where he is. If you don’t see him, just yell “Come,” and his response is virtually automatic.

He will lick your hands and face when you show him the smallest kindness. Quite affectionate. He likes car rides and is well behaved. He is easy to crate. Just open the door and he goes right in. When he gets frightened, agitated or upset, petting Sampson and pulling him close will calm him down.

Sampson is around 100 pounds and needs to keep losing weight. He can get into a typical SUV through the passenger door but would have a hard time, currently, jumping into one from the back. When full of energy, or curious about something, he pulls on the leash. He is strong and low to the ground. Some obedience training would be very helpful here. He does not like cats. I do not have a pool so I do not know how he responds to water. His only activity so far has been walks on a leash.

Sampson will make a great companion for an individual or family interested in nurturing and playing with this wonderful canine who has a great heart. "

Adopted: Buddy Senior, a 10 year old Black Male Labrador, found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from foster family……..

"Buddy is friendly lab, always eager to meet new people. He's fully house trained and knows how to sit. Buddy recently lost his human, but despite this he has adjusted well to his new foster home in only a day. He is very low maintenance; doesn't bark, doesn't jump, and is very good about staying out of trouble. He enjoys "helping" with chores around the house or just relaxing in the sun.

He is very much still an excitable lab though, with years of experience being active. Buddy is enthusiastic when you get the leash out and will be happy to lead you on a walk any time of day. When you open the car door he'll jump in without hesitation, always excited to go someplace new.

He is quite the loyal dog, he'll always be at your side when he becomes part of your family, which doesn't take long! great dog he is bound to be!"

Adopted: Shadow, a 1 year old Male Black Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Shadow is a sweet, happy boy once he becomes secure in his surroundings. He was timid at first, to be expected as he languished in a shelter for a couple of months before coming to LVLR. As Shadow has learned that he is now loved and safe, his personality is coming out. While only 1, he's calmer than most his age, but very receptive to learning. He does well in his crate, tentative to get in a car, but once in, he is calm. He is good with other dogs when introduced properly. We are treating him like a young puppy with no potty training experience, and manage his time with trips outside to reinforce proper behavior. We've had no accidents in the house or crate, and will continue build trust and routine until he's adopted to ensure a good foundation for success.
Shadow is becoming more & more affectionate as his trust grows, sneaking in puppy kisses after dinner or play time. We do suspect that as he becomes more comfortable, the mischievous puppy tendencies will come out, being mouthy and bouncy, but totally believe even a little training will go a long way with Shadow. He's a bit fluffier (like a flat coat retriever), has an adorable white stripe on his chest and white around his muzzle to match! Shadow is so very loving already, he will make a wonderful companion for any family."

Adopted: Buddy Junior, an 11 month old Male Yellow Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Buddy is an 11 month old Yellow Labrador retriever with a bit of something else that his vet thinks may be Great Pyrenees. His beautiful temperament certainly supports this idea, as he has all the sweetness, curiosity and happy disposition of a Lab, and the patience, deliberateness, pack guarding characteristics of a Great Pyrenees.

Another clue about his possible ancestry is that Buddy looks like a Lab with Lab colorings and coat, but he has the body type of a much larger dog - such as the Great Pyrenees. HE is tall! He currently weighs 113 pounds, with not an extra ounce to spare. He still has some growing to do, but my guess is that his overall height and length wont change much - he will just fill out a bit more.

Buddy is friendly, gets along with my other dogs. He is learning how to be a member of the pack instead of its leader, which is what he appears to have been in his short past. He loves to lean on us and be petted. He doesnt jump, eat shoes or anything else he finds on the floor, or counter-surf even though at his height, this would be a breeze. He is starting to learn about toys and hasnt (yet) shown a desire to shred them to bits or eat them, which would be normal puppy behaviour! He is curious and likes to roam in my back yard, but always comes back to be near the pack so that he can do his job of protecting us.

Despite his size, Buddy is still just a pup. He doesnt know many commands, but is eager to learn. He uses the doggie door and is completely house trained. He's curious about the pool but hasnt yet been introduced to swimming. Buddy wants to please, and with his size and potential power, an obedience training course will be very important. As will having a confident, loving pack leader who has the time and desire to work with this puppy and help shape him into the great dog he is bound to be!"

He's smart, quick to learn and loves to play or sniff everything down. He would really benefit from some training, learning how to direct that energy correctly. Charlie is house trained and does well with other dogs when properly introduced. We have no cats nor small children. He is good in a crate when we're out of the house, but we're working on overnight stays as he just wants to be with us. Charlie would be great for an active family, willing to work on his manners and develop his boundaries. Charlie is really just full of puppy love & kisses, and will make a great companion."

We received this amazing & funny Happy Tail for Hank:

"Hank’s Happy Tail
We had been looking for a male yellow lab off and on for awhile, on the waiting list for over 3 years with the Lab Rescue. Finally LVLR had two brothers come into their rescue and we were lucky enough to adopt Hank on May 23rd, 2016. He got along immediately with our two older golden retrievers, Gus (10) and Booger (7). We are volunteer pet sitters for the Golden Retriever Rescue of S. NV so we had to be sure that Hank would welcome the ‘guests’ into our home as well as the old guys do. We had nothing to worry about! He is the perfect host, playing and sharing his toys with everyone.
Hank sure loves riding in the car… In fact the first time he saw my car in the garage, he jumped straight up and through the open driver’s side window and sat in the passenger seat! It took a treat or two to get him out, and now he knows how to wait until he’s invited into the car. In the past 90 days he has brought a huge grin to my face more times than I can count. He also loves to share the bed with us, although we generally don’t allow it. He has learned that if he waits until we are asleep, he can jump up like a ninja and sleep at the foot of the bed without us even realizing it.
Hank likes living in our semi-rural neighborhood where he can watch rabbits in the front yard, and eat horse-droppings on our walks. I’m trying to get him to stop that…
He didn’t take to the pool at all when we first got him, but I have slowly gotten him to get in and swim across by himself. He is funny to watch because instead of gliding in like Gus & Booger do, Hank kind of cannon-ball launches his whole body off the steps and goes completely under water. He has no problem sticking his whole head under and getting toys that sink off the first step of the pool.
We look forward to sharing our lives with this wonderful dog for as long as we are allowed to. Now that we have him (or he has us) we can’t imagine our lives without him.

D & T"

"Cali is a very laid back, calm 5-year old lab. Her previous owner had her professionally trained, and it shows. She knows her basic commands such as sit, laydown, and paw. She is housetrained and is not shy about letting you know that she needs to go. She also will go into her crate on command, and loves it when you come home and let her out.

She doesn’t seem to be food motivated, but loves attention and will sit next to you for hours while you watch TV. She especially likes having her head scratched and her belly rubbed. She is also protective of her human and will follow you around the house like a little shadow.

She walks well, but occasionally needs to be reminded that she shouldn’t pull on her leash. She gets along well with strangers and strange dogs.

Overall, Cali is a great lab, and would make a great family companion"

Pending Adoption: Poe, a 2 year old Male Yellow Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Meet Poe! The happy-faced, charismatic boy is named for Poe Dameron from Star Wars, and like his namesake, he is smart, energetic and downright adorable. Just look at how his ears match his gorgeous eyes!

Poe was rescued from a shelter just in the nick of time. He had clearly been a stray for a long time, as he was very underweight and over-stressed. It has taken a few weeks in our foster care to get him eating healthy, putting on weight, and clearing up a skin infection.

Now safe, happy and healthy, Poe's personality is starting to blossom! Our vet estimates Poe to be around 2 years old, but he really is a young 2, full of puppy-like energy and playfulness. He loves chasing a ball, swimming, and playing, sometimes all legs and no coordination! Poe has clearly lacked social skills in his life, and needs some guidance on boundaries and manners.

Poe has learned to do well sleeping in a crate overnight, but is ever the early bird! We continue to build his confidence, work on his manners and he continues to learn new things and become more and more affectionate. Poe just LOVES his evening cuddles! He does very well with our 3 dogs, loves riding in a car, and has come a long way in house training. We do call him 'snake hips', as he has the hilarious ability to slink quickly through any open door. He's very smart, loving, eager to learn and be involved with humans and other dogs.

Poe is a really good candidate for training. He simply still has a puppy brain in a full size body, and can be mischievous if left running free. While we as his fosters have laid a good foundation for his true potential, we know there is a special family out there that will see all he's capable of and commit to helping Poe become the dog he was always meant to be."

We at LVLR are moved beyond words to receive this incredibly loving Happy Tail for Melli (formerly Lilo). Updates like this make every day better.

"Melli's happy tail!

Melli a.k.a. Lilo came to us from the Las Vegas Lab Rescue in September after we had finally opened our hearts to bring a new dog into our family after losing our beloved black lab, Jasmine, in 2014. Our family's last name is Grant. We renamed Lilo to Melli because we wanted to have a brand-new name for her for her brand-new life, and we borrowed the name Melli from the TV show Scandal where the first lady of the United States is named Mellie Grant. Our own Melli Grant is the first lady of our household!

Roxxi, our 2006 rescue from LVLR accepted Melli from the very first visit from her loving foster mom Joni. Sweet Melli was practically only a puppy herself when she gave birth to a litter of puppies and then was discarded like trash somewhere in Utah with milk still leaking out of her from lack of nursing. I thank God every day for the great volunteers at LVLR who rescued Melli from a sad set of circumstances, had her spayed, and then brought into the rescue for us to adopt her. This sweet girl has the most expressive eyes and she lights up the room every time she is in it. When she wakes up in the morning with me, she takes herself out to potty and then while I'm making coffee she comes bursting in the doggie door and grabs a toy, and starts running around trying to entice Roxxi to play with her. Her nickname is Hurricane Melli!

Melli absolutely loves my eight-year-old daughter, and is so gentle with kids. She loves when my daughter has sleepovers. I'll never forget, shortly after we had adopted Melli, my daughter had a sleepover and Melli was the center of attention. She loved having five kids doting on her all night long and slept in the middle of their pile of sleeping bags.

Melli loves going on walks, even though she is still learning how to be a good girl on leash. She loves going to the park and playing her version of fetch, which is really a game of keepaway.

Melli does have a slight case of separation anxiety; I have a feeling it's because everything she loved in her life before us was taken away. Her puppies were taken from her when she was still nursing, and then her home was taken away. When Melli first came to us, she would tremble and cry out in her sleep - I can only imagine what her nightmares entailed! Thankfully, that only lasted a couple of months. Now she sleeps quietly at the foot of my bed. I pray that within the coming months she realizes that we will never, ever let her go, and that we will always come home to her. Fortunately for Melli, my husband and I both work from home so there is usually always someone home with her. And recently, we went on a weeklong vacation and my older niece stayed at our house so that Melli would not have to go to a strange environment.

Melli enjoys car rides with Roxxi to take my daughter to school or summer camp. The second she sees me pick up my daughter's lunch box, it is her cue to run to the back door and pounce up-and-down in anticipation of being able to run out to my SUV. It is so darn cute, I can't imagine a happier way to start our morning! When I have a morning that I have a meeting or need to run errands after drop off and can't take the girls with me, well, let's just say that the disappointment in Melli's eyes can be a heart breaker!

Melli came to us not knowing how to give kisses. She gets a little more willing as each month goes by, but she's very parsimonious with her kisses and it takes a lot of begging! Each one we receive is newsworthy for the whole family. In that respect, she is the opposite of Roxxi. Roxxi will unload her slobber kisses on anyone and everyone, that little minx!

Last fall, my daughter's school had a "bring your pet to school" day and Melli was the center of attention as 300 kids that got to pet and love on her.

Some of Melli's favorite pastimes include:
- Scamming free pets from anyone with a dangling hand.
- Rough housing with her "cousin" Monkey, a lab-coon-pit mix.
- Swimming, but only from the steps of the pool - hasn't graduated to jumping in yet.
- Terrorizing the neighbors 2 lap dogs through a tiny drainage hole in our backyard's common wall. She doesn't bark, she just looks through there and they go nuts!
- Demanding attention from the yard crew and the pool guy - scamming more free pets.
- Watching Game of Thrones and Outlander - she loves the horses. Hoping to take her to the farm with us to watch my daughter ride once it cools off.
- Laying atop Roxxi in some form or fashion, she's a snuggler!
- Being my shadow - can't even go to the bathroom alone!
- Stealing the kitchen throw rug and moving it to the dining room. She doesn't chew it, she's just redecorating every day! A regular Martha Stewart!

Melli has been such a perfect addition to our family and has helped me personally close the hole that was in my heart from the loss of Jasmine. Thanks again for finding her for us!

Thank you,
Jen Grant"

Here is a Bio from Her foster family……..

"Bella is a sweet natured and loving dog. From the moment I picked her up she has won me over as a sweet natured and fun-loving girl. She is potty trained and can use the doggy door, and does not get up on furniture. Once she got to know our other dogs she mixed well with them in the house, playing outside and in the pool or on walks. At first Bella pulled on the leash during walks but after a couple days learned how to walk well on the leash, come when called, and knows basic commands. Bella has some young dog traits and has escaped from the kennel a time or two, is curious about the cat and is not a fan of being left behind. Bella was not familiar with pools or swimming but quickly learned to fetch and play along with the other dogs. Bella will make a great addition to the lucky family that will give her a forever home."

Adopted: Zeus, a 16 month old Chocolate Male Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"My name is Zeus. I am not a god of the sky or anything like that, but I am strong and I have presence when I trot into a room. I am a handsome chocolate Labrador mix with a beautiful white strip down my chest and adorable white toes. I am 16 months old with energy and a lot of joy. I am crate and house trained and well behaved. I rarely bark. I do not jump up on people or onto furniture. I like being outdoors to play a game of fetch or to hang with my canine buddies. I'm pretty easy going. I'm just looking for my forever home. Oh, by the way - my ideal home is one that does not have a cat living in it. Just sayin'...."

Adopted: Grizzly, a 4-5 year old Chocolate Male Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"My name is Bonnie and I am a ‘foster mom’ with the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue (LVLR). This means that when a dog is rescued, after it is medically checked out and spayed or neutered, it goes to one of the many foster homes that are part of the LVLR team. This is an amazing Labrador that has a medical condition which took three months to diagnose and bring him back to a normal healthy, happy Labrador Retriever. Grizzly has Atypical Addison’s Disease. His current status is a happy guy looking for a forever home that meets his needs, abides by all veterinary instructions, financially able to cover increased veterinarian visits and prescriptions “estimated” to be $950.00 annually, plus normal vaccinations and/or other medical needs, and ability/willingness to provide him with a more leisurely lifestyle and drinking water available 24/7. If the above introduction seems overwhelming or out of your financial reach, you should consider looking for another Labrador Retriever. Should you request a meet & greet with Grizzly, we will most likely ask why you want him, what you know about his condition and why you believe his best direction in life is to be your Labrador Retriever.

Here’s my part of his amazing story

When Grizzly first arrived, he was in pretty tough shape. He weighed only 57 pounds, and his bones were sticking out everywhere. He showed signs of illness (no appetite, vomiting), but when he stopped drinking water, I knew it was time to bring him to the vet.

Grizzly stayed at Camino Al Norte Animal Hospital for the next two weeks where Dr. Jessica Hagstette and her team looked after him and worked non-stop to diagnose what was wrong. Two weeks in the hospital resulted in an exhaustive list of all the problems Grizzly DIDN’T have, and a dog that seemed to be feeling better with no apparent explanation, but still no diagnosis. Undeterred but convinced that Grizzly might continue to improve more happily in a known home environment, Dr. Hagstette released Grizzly. Still working on the mystery, two days later, she called us back so he could have one more test. At long last – a diagnosis!

With the new knowledge that Grizzly has Atypical Addison’s disease, a treatment plan could finally begin. Luckily, Atypical Addison’s is very treatable with a daily dose of cortisol – the chemical his adrenal glands should have been producing all along, but weren’t. Because of the numerous symptoms that can be seen with Atypical Addison’s Disease, it has earned the medical nickname The Great Imitator. Here is a link for a more clinical explanation: Addison's Disease.

Dr. Hagstette is not only an excellent veterinarian, but also a patient teacher who explained what needed to happen next. First, Grizzly needed medicine, but for this particular medicine (a form of cortisol replacement), the dose is dependent on not just the size and weight of the dog, but more importantly on its level of physical activity and stress. So the optimum dose had to be calibrated over time. Second, Grizzly needed his activity and therefore stress levels to be moderated.

Dr. Hagstette started with the most broadly used medicine at the lowest dosage, which I gave to Grizzly once a day – always at roughly the same time of day, with a meal. I also ensured that his activity levels were moderate. All dogs need exercise, Grizzly included. So we went for a ½ mile walk each day, and Grizzly also played with my two other Labs, but for periods of about 10 minutes of running, fussing over toys, catching balls, etc., and then we would all take a break so that he could rest for some hours before a second playtime. It was sometimes a challenge to always keep an eye on him, but he quickly settled into the routine.

This routine – along with a very hearty and robust diet of high quality dry dog food, continued for one month. With his new medicine, I noticed that Grizzly’s water intake went up quite a bit, and his appetite grew to the point that he would wake me up at 4am to be fed. Reports of his progress and my observations were reviewed every few days by Dr. Hagstette and also by the Director of the LVLR, and we adjusted his meal plan accordingly.

During month one, Grizzly’s appetite steadily and quickly grew. His body’s ability to process protein and fat came back online, and he started to gain some much needed weight. He was still weak, but his enthusiasm and energy level increased every day. I could even start to feel him exerting more strength when we’d go for a walk and he would try to pull me down the road faster than I wanted to walk! More importantly, I could see the happiness in his face and in the wag of his tail. I believe he knew how ill he had been, and was really overjoyed to be able to play and run and feel good again.

At the end of month one, Grizzly went back to the hospital for a physical exam and panels of blood and urine tests. Based on these results, Dr. Hagstette felt Grizzly’s extra water and increased appetite, both of which can be caused by certain types of cortisol replacement, might be reduced or eliminated on a slightly different formulation. So he was switched to the new version – with more good news being that it was also a lower dose (4gm instead of 5mg), and we started another month of observation.

During month two, Grizzly’s excessive water intake came down a bit, and he stopped crying for food at 4am. His water intake is still higher than normal, but this is a small price to pay for a full recovery. He has continued to improve in all directions. He is now 79 pounds, which for a big, tall, long, male Labrador Retriever, is right where he needs to maintain. No more bones are visible anywhere, and when he pulls on the leash (a habit I am now working to break him of), I can feel even more strength than he had a month ago. He plays with my dogs and runs around the back yard – but still in 10 minute sessions, twice or three times a day at most, and only in the cooler or shady times of the day. He has started swimming, which is great exercise. Now he uses the pool for his cool downs – going for a quick swim after playing and when we come back from our evening walks. As the weather gets warmer but not too warm to walk him at all – which will happen soon enough, I may have him go in the pool or gently hose him down with cool water BEFORE we go for our evening walks.

Grizzly is good with other dogs, and with people. Everybody in our neighborhood knows him and looks forward to seeing him each day. We are working on his manners, as he likes to jump up on people to greet them, and I already mentioned that he needs a little work on heeling. Now that he’s feeling so well, his counter-surfing tendency has re-awakened, and we have to be diligent about not leaving anything on the kitchen counters or table. He can sniff out the tiniest morsel of food anywhere!

He is in all ways a normal, happy, goofy, 4-year-old giant bear of a Labrador Retriever. He runs and plays, chews every toy into shreds daily, likes to carry his empty food bowl back to the kitchen to show me he cleaned his plate, and tries to rescue the alien creatures in the swimming pool that you and I know to be the chlorine floaters. He follows me all over the house, because he knows his job is to look after me. But he’s self-confident and is fine when I go out without him.

After caring for Grizzly for almost four months I can say that the small amount of effort required for him to remain a strong beautiful and healthy Lab is minor. A pill with breakfast (or lunch in my case), and active but leisurely lifestyle, which he will fall into perfectly when he’s matched up with an adoptive family that is in synch!"

Adopted: Cersai, a 3 year old Yellow Female Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Cersai is a just a wonderful bundle of lovable Lab! She is timid and shy around people at first, but when she understands she's safe & secure, she just blossoms into a gorgeous, happy dog. She still has lots of energy and needs to work on her manners, but she is also quick to learn and responsive to structure and boundaries. She does well in the car, sleeps easily crated, knows sit and loves to chase a ball. She also loves to get into the pool! Every day she gets better and more confident, doing well with leash training. She gets along with our 3 Labs, but have no idea how she is with cats or small children. Cersai still needs love, attention and patience from the family that adopts her, will thrive with proper training, and simply needs to be provided with security and affection to have her grow into the spectacular Lab she is meant to be. Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Tucker is such a sweet and loving dog! My kids have started calling him a big teddy bear, as he's a larger Lab and super affectionate. Tucker needs some basic training and is mostly house broken. He is great with my dominant dog and fantastic with my children. He loves to cuddle, chew on stuffed animals toys and chase a ball. Tucker is a fast learner, we started teaching him how to shake, and he caught on quickly! He also goes into his kennel very well and does well sleeping in it. He will definitely make a great pet for any type of family."

Tucker has had an number of requests from approved families and we will not be accepting more until those meetings have taken place.

"Theo is a very handsome, sweet loving boy. He gets along great with our 3 dogs and is very curious about our 2 cats. He is good going for walks, does well on leash and in the car. He has sit and come down pretty good but he will need some training to improve his manners.  He loves getting attention, getting his belly rubbed and sleeping with us in bed. He likes to be right by my side as he has some separation anxiety, but is getting better every day. I know once Theo is placed in his permanent home he will be an awesome dog for an active family."

We received such an amazing Happy Tail for amazing Nala! We at LVLR couldn't be more happy for this special girl.

"Hello LVLR,
I hope this finds you well. It's been 4 weeks today that Nala came into our lives. We adore her. She has settled in as if she's always been here. The cats did not even hide when she arrived! Nala is an older lady with a lot going for her. We wanted a calm dog to help our resident choco Molly (also from LVLR) with her separation anxiety. It's working too. They are becoming besties and crack us up with their charm. Nala is just as sweet as they come. Also, she continues to improve since her surgery in January. She goes to the park twice daily to gallop around and watch rabbits.
Thank you so much to the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue for all that you have done for this exceptional sweet dog.
Kristin and Bob"

We just love getting updates on our former rescues! Here is a sweet Happy Tail for Shadow (formally Zeus).

"Shadow is a loving, kind and energetic puppy that has been a welcomed addition to our family. Our boys figured out right away that Shadow loves racing around our backyard to play ball.  They have a blast playing keep away with the basketball, soccer and tennis balls.  In addition to chasing after the ball, we’ve found that Shadow also seems to love chasing after his new feline sister, Sage.  Other than the occasional loud HISS, we think the two of them are becoming fast friends.  We are so lucky to have found Shadow and are delighted to be his forever family!!
